A cleanup process your firm can run. The engagement stays connected.
BrokenBooks gives QBO cleanup firms an established diagnostic process, with reports, cleanup plans, tasks and client questions built from the review. Proposal, payment, cleanup execution, CPA preparation and ongoing bookkeeping stay connected around that accounting core.
Your firm gets a process to deliver and review the work, rather than assembling the assessment, report and execution workflow separately. Pricing below is proposed for prelaunch planning, not a current subscription offer.
The diagnostic and the work it generates, in one engagement.
Branded portal access, intake, action items, document uploads, milestones, conversations, published reports, proposal response, and supported payment flows.
Review QBO reports through the guided diagnostic. Your answers drive findings, the diagnostic report and cleanup plan for professional review.
Use the diagnostic report and cleanup plan to define and propose the work, with approval and payment handled alongside the engagement.
As approved cleanup moves into execution, BrokenBooks creates the related tasks and client questions from the review. Your firm carries out and reviews the work with assignments, supporting records and progress kept together.
Project documents, evidence, requests, task discussions, conversations, attachments, search, read receipts, and publication controls.
Service scope, schedules, periods, generated tasks, workstreams, workpapers, requests, close readiness, reopen controls, and year rollover.
Implemented workflow; end-to-end continuity is still being refined.Year closeout, management summary, outstanding items, carry-forward decisions, next-year links, and CPA packet/access workflows.
Implemented handoff workflow; recipient experience is still being refined.Keep the cleanup engagement together, alongside QuickBooks Online.
It does not replace QuickBooks Online or tax software. It provides the diagnostic and cleanup workflow around the ledger; which other tools a firm retains depends on its needs.
Supported diagnostic intake forms and document-request spreadsheets.
Separate portal tools, task trackers, diagnostic spreadsheets, scope worksheets, proposal tracking, recurring checklists, close trackers, and year-end handoff organization.
General document storage and broader internal collaboration tools.
QuickBooks Online, tax preparation software, payroll processing, or a full CRM.
The diagnostic process comes with the software.
The practitioner-developed diagnostic provides the assessment structure and uses the review to generate the report and resulting cleanup plan. Your firm retains professional review and control over the accounting work.
Practitioners follow the built-in diagnostic, with structured findings and supporting information for the firm to review.
Use the hosted link or copy the iframe to put the intake experience where your firm wants clients to use it.
Diagnostic results become the cleanup plan, tasks and client questions, rather than a report the bookkeeper must manually turn into a separate workflow.
Optional AI assistance is being evaluated for supported workflow tasks; customer availability is not yet confirmed here. It assists the workflow without replacing the professional who evaluates the accounting.
Proposed prelaunch pricing — not currently available for purchase. BrokenBooks is prelaunch, in use at For The Love of Bookkeepers with client-portal testing underway, and not yet available to other firms. The $150/month base price and $100/month additional-user price are proposed, may change, and are not current subscription offers. Product status.
$150/month.
One firm user. All BrokenBooks features and modules.
Additional active firm users are $100/month each.
The approved seat-based pricing model is being aligned with the billing implementation before launch.
The engagement structure, even when you’re the whole team.
A one-person bookkeeping or accounting firm may need the same engagement tools as a larger team. Adding people changes the price. Accessing another part of the product does not.
Does BrokenBooks replace QuickBooks Online?
No. QuickBooks Online remains the accounting ledger. BrokenBooks provides the diagnostic and cleanup workflow, with generated reports and planned work connected to client coordination and the wider engagement.
Does BrokenBooks connect directly to my QBO ledger?
Not today. BrokenBooks uses reviewer input and uploaded QuickBooks reports and evidence. It does not currently provide live OAuth ledger ingestion, automatic scanning, or QBO writeback.
Does the software make accounting judgments for me?
No. The system provides the structure. The professional provides the judgment.
Are client portal users billed as firm users?
The approved pricing model bills active firm users. The final billing definition is being aligned in the product before launch.
Can other firms use BrokenBooks today?
Not yet. BrokenBooks is prelaunch, in use at For The Love of Bookkeepers with client-portal testing underway. Other capabilities and end-to-end transitions remain under development or validation. Commercial subscriptions are not currently available.
